Proprietary and Confidential Page 9-4
9.2.1.2. Sending Messages
Click the Compose button on the Left side of the screen to send a new message. If your
organization subscribes to the Outbound Email Protection service, your Outbound Policy is applied.
When composing a new message, you must enter the fully qualified email address in the To field;
there is no Contact List or Global Address List connectivity
You can attach files by using the Attach / Browse function
You will be notified if email format is invalid in the “To” field
IF the message is being sent to your own organization, do not enter any ‘Distribution Group’
email addresses in the “To” field. (e.g. marketingdept@yourdomain.com) Since your mail
server handles the routing of Distribution Groups, and your mail server is not active, the
message would not be delivered. There is no way to decipher the group as the email will
not be going through the customer Server prior to sending
There is no Spell Check function
9.2.1.3. Intelligent Unspool
When McAfee detects the customers mail server is operational, messages begin unspooling from
Email Continuity. This includes all messages received, sent, and deleted.
Deleting a message while in Email Continuity does not delete the message from the customer’s
server, just from the Email Continuity inbox view. This ensures the customer will see all email to
meet their archiving requirements.
All of the messages delivered to your mail server are routed to your mail server inbox. The sent
messages are not routed to your mail server Sent folder. To help you manage your messages, we
will alter the Subject line by listing the action that was taken on that message.
For example, all sent message would have the word <sent> in brackets added to the email subject
line. This allows you to organize, sort and move your messages appropriately.
The following table shows how messages are Unspooled:
Email Continuity Location
or Action

Customers
Message Appended
Inbox – message read Inbox Prepend subject to include Read
Inbox – message unread Inbox
Sent Inbox Prepend subject to include Sent
Deleted Inbox Prepend subject to include Deleted
