request is sent to the senders DNS server. The senders DNS server returns the SPF record

indicating the messages domain name or email address originated from that domain.

How the Allow list works with SPF

1. After entering the domain or email address, click the Add button. Note: IP addresses

cannot be used to validate a senders SPF record.

2. To enable the SPF validation check, click the Add SPF button to change the red X to a green

check.

The service performs one of the following:



If the SPF record is verified, this means senders domain/email address is valid and only the

virus and TLS (if TLS is enabled) filters are applied to the message. The message is not

filtered for spam, content and attachment violations.



If the SPF record cannot be verified (even if it has a green check), the message is scanned

for virus, TLS (if TLS is enabled). The message is not filtered for spam, content and

attachment violations

SPF verification can be enabled, disabled or deleted for each senders domain or email address.

Note: SPF validation does not work with IP addresses.
